Little Sister Coffee Maker
Little Sister Coffee Maker

Little Sister Coffee Maker is one of four businesses that share space at 539 Osborne Street. Expanding from its original branch at River Avenue, the design at this new location takes its cues from Little Sister’s initial storefront.

There is a natural fluidity between the inside and outside at the original River Avenue location and this is something we wanted to emulate at the new shop. The bleacher seating is one way in which traditionally outdoor elements are incorporated in this interior setting, and the addition of plants and greenery is another. The rebar grid on the east wall functions as a trellis for trailing vines, and the dividing wall between the upper and lower levels serves as a built-in planter.

The main focus of this space is the life within. Not only will the growth of plants change the space in time, but the various businesses develop and adapt day to day. The many vignettes of the space help to tell these stories.
